Admission with a Foreign Qualification

If you hold a foreign academic qualification and wish to apply for a First- or Second-Level Specialising Master's Programme or an Advanced Course at Tor Vergata University of Rome, your qualification must be assessed by the University for admission and enrolment purposes.

The information on this page applies to all applicants with a foreign academic qualification, regardless of citizenship.

For full details on admission requirements, required documents and deadlines, please refer to the Call for Applications for Master's Programmes and Advanced Courses.

1. Check your qualification

Your foreign qualification must be officially recognised within the education system of the country where it was awarded and must give access to the appropriate level of study.
In particular:

- for a First-Level Specialising Master's Programme, you must hold a foreign academic qualification corresponding to the level required for admission;
- for a Second-Level Specialising Master's Programme, you must hold a foreign academic qualification corresponding to the level required for admission.
Individual Master's Programmes may have additional academic or subject-specific requirements. Always check the relevant Call for Applications.

2. Prepare your documents

In general, you will need to provide:

- your final academic qualification;
- a Transcript of Records or Diploma Supplement;
- a translation into Italian, where required;
- the documents required to verify the level and authenticity of your qualification.

The documents you need also depend on the country where your qualification was awarded.

Qualifications from countries that are parties to the Lisbon Recognition Convention
Check ARDI – Automatic Recognition Database Italia (https://ardi.cimea.it) to see whether a Statement of Correspondence is available for your qualification.

Qualifications from countries that are not parties to the Lisbon Recognition Convention
You must provide the documents specified in the Call for Applications. These may include a Declaration of Value issued by the competent Italian diplomatic or consular mission.

CIMEA
CIMEA Statements of Comparability and Statements of Verification may be accepted in the cases and under the conditions specified in the Call for Applications.
Before requesting any documents or statements, check the Call for Applications carefully to find out what is required in your case.

3. Check the language requirements

You must have at least B2-level proficiency in the language in which the programme is taught.

You can meet this requirement through one of the language certificates listed in the Call for Applications or, where applicable, through a qualification that exempts you from providing a language certificate.
If you do not have an accepted language certificate, check the Call for Applications for information on how your language proficiency can be assessed.

4. If you are a non-EU citizen residing abroad

If you are a non-EU citizen residing abroad and need a study visa, you must also submit a pre-enrolment application through the Universitaly portal (www.universitaly.it).

The process is:

Application → Admission to the programme → Document verification → Universitaly pre-enrolment → University validation → Study visa application → Enrolment

The University will validate your Universitaly pre-enrolment application only after you have been admitted to the programme and your documents have been successfully verified.
Admission to the programme and validation of your Universitaly application do not guarantee that you will be granted a study visa. Study visas are issued exclusively by the competent Italian diplomatic or consular mission.

5. Submit your documents by the enrolment deadline

If you do not yet have all the required documents when you apply, you may be admitted conditionally, where permitted by the Call for Applications.
You must submit all required documents by the enrolment deadline.
